Alva Judson Martin established the Morewood Union Cheese and Butter Company about the year 1900. He bought a piece of Lot 18 Concession 3 in Winchester Township and it appears that he established a partnership with John McTavish a neightbour from Vancamp Mills in Mountain township where Alva's family lived. Alva employed William and Martha (Williams) Cassells when they came to Canada in 1904 and later employed Martha's brother's Robert and John when they arrived in 1912. Robert was my grandfather. Alva's son Alva Jay went off to war in 1915 with John Williams and while on leave visited the Williams family in Belfast, Ireland and in the process meeting his wife to be Annie Houston Williams. They married in 1919 and moved to Edmonton where members of the family still live. My research into Alva Judson's family has reached a dead end in the 1850's in Mountain Township Ontario. In the pdf file below I have provided a short version of the family genealogy (a longer version is available in the private family section of this site). I have also provided the background data collected in my research. The last part of my "findings" is a list of the various vital statistics documents that I have collected (mostly as jpg picture files). These are available to other researchers. |

Alva Judson Martin was married twice; 1) to Christie Steinburg, and 2) to Annie Gage Moore. In the pdf files below I have provided my "findings" on these two families collected to date. I have also included some data that I have collected on the Levere, Doran and Fader families in the hope that someone can help me sort them out. They are linked by marriage to three of Alva's sisters; Lovina, Mary and Vandace. Research continues on each of these families. Contributions and inquiries are most welcome. |
