My wife's mother was a Wood. Her g.g.g.grandfather, Robert Wood emigrated from Peeblesshire, Scotland in 1815, settling first in the Perth Military Settlement and then moving to the head of Bass Lake, which is near Rideau Ferry, Ontario. Robert was first a schoolteacher but the family gradually shifted into farming through the generations. | |
