The Williams Family

My grandfather, Robert Elliott Williams, came to Canada in 1911 from Ireland. Grandfather was actually Scottish, born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, son of a boilermaker. Robert's father moved the family to Ireland about 1902 presumably to work in the shipbuilding industry which might have seen him working on the Titanic at some point. Oral history suggests that our Williams family is Welsh but we have yet to prove that. My earliest known ancestors are from Cheshire, England. Grandmother Marshall was Irish but the family roots are said to be Scottish but again, no hard evidence has yet been found.

In 2023 a Facebook group was created to share information amongst Williams and Elliot cousins.
