The Crawfords of Lochwinnoch, Scotland | |||
My great grandmother was a Crawford. Jessie Brodie (Crawford) Hepburn was the daughter of William Hepburn and Agnes Orr. William was a woolen goods manufacturer at Lochwinnoch who had a mill just north of the villiage at Calder Glen. More information on William is available on the Lochwinnoch Villiage web site (see link on home page). Agnes Orr was the daughter of William Orr and Janet Brodie of the Kaim, a farm further north from the village. This Orr family is to say the least, extensive. Their history at the Kaim has been traced back to the 1500's. There are at least two Crawford lines associated with the Orrs of Kaim. I have extracted Crawford data from the Lochwinnoch parish records (LDS site) and census data from the Scotlands people web site and sorted it into two spreadsheets. Where possible I have added notes about the families to identify them. Those data files are provided below in a pdf format, hoping that other researchers would find them and help to identify other families. Other related families requiring further research: Pennie, Brown, Doughty, Baird, Brodie, Stevenson and Pollock |
